AI-Powered Literacy Learning
Investigating conversational and multimodal AI systems that support children’s reading and language development.
Advancing AI-Powered Literacy Learning for Children and Families
The AILE Lab investigates how artificial intelligence can transform children’s literacy learning and development through human-centered design, interdisciplinary research, and innovative educational technologies.
The AI and Literacy Education Lab (AILE Lab), launched in December 2024, investigates how artificial intelligence can transform children’s literacy learning and development. The lab brings together researchers and student researchers from Education, Computer Science, and related fields to design, develop, and evaluate AI-powered tools that support children’s language, literacy, and cognitive development across diverse learning contexts.
The AILE Lab explores how artificial intelligence can serve as a meaningful learning partner for children, while supporting educators, families, and communities through responsible and evidence-based innovation.
Designing AI systems that prioritize children’s learning experiences, engagement, and developmental needs.
Exploring AI-supported approaches for vocabulary, reading, comprehension, and language development.
Connecting education, computer science, and learning sciences to advance the future of AI-enhanced learning.
Our research examines how responsible AI can expand literacy learning across the places children read, talk, and grow.
